For Nurses and Nursing Students

Experience a wide range of care, from hospital wards to the community, alongside local nurses and midwives

Who this program is for

  • Nursing students, nurses and midwives who want clinical experience abroad
  • Anyone interested in nursing and midwifery care in resource-limited settings
  • Those who want to be involved in community maternal and child health and public health work
  • Those considering a career in international nursing or global health

What you will do

At our partner hospitals in Arusha, under the guidance of local nurses and midwives, you will gain experience in ward care, maternal and child health clinics, and observing and assisting in the delivery room. You will also join community health check-ups and outreach activities, contributing to public health work beyond the hospital.

GMC-Africa arranges your accommodation and local transport, and our staff and program alumni are on hand to support you throughout your stay.

What you will gain

  • Practical, resourceful care skills with limited supplies and staff
  • Insight into caring for patients and families from different cultural backgrounds
  • First-hand experience at the front line of maternal and child health and community nursing
  • Connections with local nurses and students from around the world
