The purpose of the activity is different for each person.

The main goal of a medical internship in Tanzania is to gain practical learning experience in a medical setting, but it does not stop there. It is also important for each participant to have different goals, and learning based on their own perspectives and interests will make the time more fulfilling. To see the reality of medical care in Africa with your own eyes, that alone is a sufficient goal.

For example...

-Learn about Tanzanian culture
-Understand the problems in health care for the poor
-Share the medical knowledge and treatments you have developed
-Take a collective approach that is socially meaningful

The important thing is to define your own objectives before your trip and to make the most of your local experience. Seeing and feeling the current state of healthcare in Tanzania with your own eyes is a big step in itself.

First, from a place of knowing.
