Community outreach activity for local residents

For Other Healthcare Professionals and Students

Physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers and more: supporting healthcare and communities as a multidisciplinary team

Who this program is for

  • Physical therapists (PT), occupational therapists (OT) and speech-language therapists (ST), and students in these fields
  • Social workers, public health students and others interested in fields surrounding healthcare
  • Students and working professionals outside healthcare who are interested in international cooperation or community health

If your profession or field is not listed above, we would still love to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch.

What you will do

Depending on your field and interests, we coordinate placements at our partner hospitals in Arusha, in rehabilitation departments, or in community outreach (health check-ups, patient education and health awareness). You will gain experience supporting healthcare not only from the perspective of treatment, but also of patients’ daily lives and their communities.

What you will gain

  • Practical skills in applying your professional expertise in a resource-limited setting
  • Communication skills for working in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams
  • A chance to rethink healthcare from the perspective of communities and daily life
